Dutch Language Institute ITHA

ITHA Dutch Language Institute has specialized in teaching Dutch to foreigners since 1991, operating from a classic Dutch mansion on Mathenesserlaan in Rotterdam, near the Boijmans Museum and Het Nieuwe Instituut.

The school focuses on small group programs and bespoke one-to-one training, serving businesses, government organizations, and individuals from beginner through advanced NT2++ levels. Entry requires English proficiency and a higher educational background (BA level), positioning the school for professionals and academics. ITHA does not work with the DUO system.

Multiple formats fit different schedules: fixed timetable courses, flexi-timetable programs where students schedule sessions within a 16-week window, and intensive 1-2 week immersion programs similar to the "nun school approach". Beginners complete 2-week or 2.5-week intensive day programs covering grammar and vocabulary foundations, while intermediate and advanced learners work through B1 and B2 curricula with emphasis on professional Dutch and cultural nuances.

Advanced students can access specialized tracks including Structured Speaking courses, writing style refinement, and Individual Language and Communication Coaching for professional contexts. The Rotterdam location puts students within easy reach of trendy neighborhoods for practicing Dutch during lunch breaks.
