Katakura WBLC Dutch Courses - Amsterdam (Havikshorst 30)

Katakura WBLC has taught Dutch in Amsterdam since 1994, operating from two locations: one in the Jordaan near the Anne Frank House and another near the World Trade Centre. Classes stay small — a maximum of 8-9 students — taught by native speakers using a communicative method that prioritizes speaking from day one.

Founder Alexander Goede built the school's reputation on getting students talking quickly. The method mirrors how children learn their native language: speech first, with grammar introduced practically through role plays and interaction rather than memorized rules. Once students can hold conversations, reading, writing, and grammar come easier. The school wrote its own textbook, Learn Dutch Fast For Expats, and structures courses to flow logically from one level to the next.

Course options include 1, 2, 4, 8, and 12-week formats with morning, afternoon, evening, and Saturday schedules, plus monthly start dates throughout the year. Conversation classes serve students who have completed intermediate levels and want to keep improving their speaking.

In-company training is available for businesses needing Dutch instruction for international staff, with lessons at client offices or the school's WTC location.
